So I learned something new today that I never knew before.  When tending our garden we realized that the cucumber plants are growing out of control and strangling all nearby plants.  So we thought, "no big deal," we will put all the vines through a tomato cage so that it grows upward not outward.  Little did Blake and I realize, cucumbers have tiny thorns that didn't seem to hurt until around 10 minutes after gardening when we both realized how itchy we were.  Our arms were breaking out in a irratating rash.  So we immediately ran across the street to the 7-11 to buy Benedryl.  They were out, so we ran to the bathroom only to find that the water pressure was less than desirable.  We went to the drug store, bought Benedryl and after taking three each to counter-act the allergic reaction we were having, we came to the conclusion that we didn't buy the non-drowsy Benedryl.  Just a few things we learned today.

So when coming up with a tasting menu for this weekend there were a lot of different things to consider, one being of course seasonality and what flavors that we would like to present but also the religous aspects of this holiday weekend. 

This weekend we are featuring a three course pre fixe menu consisting of the following.

1st Course
your choice of smoked pork tenderloin or blackened mahi tacos, this appetizer will be served with a smoked corn relish with cilantro and lime

2nd Course
pan seared Mahi-Mahi served over a bed of jasmine rice, with sauteed peppers and a red curry coconut sauce

3rd Course
creme brulee new york cheesecake
